Fun Monday #12 - Embarrassing Clothes
The challenge this week was set by Amy (see "A Family Story") to find something in your closet you are keeping for some ungodly reason (the sweatshirt with all the holes, the jeans your kids used as a drawing table with markers, the shirt with the stain you only hope no one notices) take a picture of it and tell us why you are keeping it and how it got that way.
In my case this means showing you some of my T-shirts . . . and don't even ask me what made me think at the time that these were juuuust the thing to wear!

"Hakuna Matata"??? Yeah, I know it means "Don't worry" but wearing a T-shirt like this, you should worry!!

Now, the Hamsters is the name of a really good Rock 'n Blues Band and they never fail to bring the house down. I still like wearing this when I go to their concerts but that is about the only time you get away with it!

Unbelievably I wore this T-shirt on my 50th birthday in Italy. So on top of being totally un-cool by being part of a holiday tour group I had to stand out wearing this! I just hope the Italians didn't speak much English!

Another great Blues guitarist - Walter Trout from America. Sad thing is . . I still like this T-shirt! What's wrong with me??
There are other embarrassing clothes but enough for today!!

There are 2 reasons for them not being worn much:
1.) The obvious one!
2.) T-shirts look awful on men with beer bellies!

Beccy makes a good observation; your shirts look like new. I like the Hakuna Matata shirt, but the Burnin' Vermin shirt makes me (((shudder))).

the hakuna matata shirt should be burned. like today. don't donate it to charity- poor people have enough problems. just burn it. do the world a favor. :)
You've resurfaced. T-shirts seem to be a popular theme -- so far in my reading anyway.

I didn't do a Fun Monday post, but it would be of old concert T-shirts from the 80's/early 90's, and leather skirts that haven't fit since I was 22, LOL.
I think EVERYONE has a couple of these t-shirts in their drawers. My husband has a ton. After a few years, though, they end up with paint stains on them in my house.
These T-shirts are great for a laugh but what a spoil sport for not stepping onto the catwalk in them. Particularly liked the 3rd
I think that everyone comes to an age where they should not wear printed t-shirts. I think it's 22, maybe 25. After that, it's probably best to stick with solid t-shirts. Just a thought.

I think we keep T-shirts like these to give us a good laugh when we need one.

I think you guys way over there on that little island are much more concerned about this embarrassment thing than we are on the other side of the Atlantic. The things that embarrass you are party wear for us. I love the Trout T-shirt and while the Hamsters shirt would not stay in my wardrobe, it is the Hakuna Matata t-shirt that I could not deal with at all (although most yanks would find it just fine for work and play!) This whole topic keeps reminding me of John Cleese's character in Fish Called Wanda.

t-shirts...especially for those who have 'beer bellies' and don't want to wear them but want to keep them.
I agree with purpleworms those shirts are common wear around in places on this side of the ocean. On the west coast especially they are the norm it seems. I rarely see a plain colored tshirt.
Dear very nice man. Hey, there's nothing wrong with a healthy collection of t-shirts. I did downsize a couple of years ago, but prior to I had about 25 of them.
those t-shirts were milk toast.
I looked for a moo moo (spelling?)
that the hubby's grandmother gave me one year. Couldn't find it. So I just gave up.
I'd wear those T-shirts anytime.
Hakuna Matata...that was hilarious. And it brought back fond memories of when my high schooler was a toddler.
Outside of the very scary hamster tee, these didn't seem so embarrassing (I'd even wear the last one :) ). Well, maybe the Hakuna Matata on a grown man, very nice or not ;).
I'm determined to visit all the Fun Monday peeps, but sometimes it takes me a while.........:)
